Amy Eini (maiden name Fanaberia) was born in 1967 in Montreal, Quebec where she grew up with her  parents, older sister Karen, and two cats, Misty and Smidgeons (who sometimes visit Amy’s dreams even today).

Upon completing her first year of English Literature at Concordia University in 1986, Amy travelled to Israel as a summer exchange student at Tel Aviv University. For the next three months she discovered the country, studied Hebrew, and experienced kibbutz life as a volunteer on Kibbutz Dalia. It was here where she met her husband–to-be Motty Eini, (the brother of her brother in law to-be).

Amy made Aliya in 1987 and completed her BA at the University of Tel Aviv, eventually settling on Kibbutz Dalia. While she worked in various positions on the kibbutz, Amy continued to write, filling her drawers with children’s stories and essays, winning two honorable mentions from Writer’s Digest contests.

Amy was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Disease in 2004. Her writing became a means of coping as she battled her way back to recovery.Fundraising for Rambam Medical Centre became another. It was this year that Amy was chosen to represent Israel as the Beacon of Hope for the Lymphoma Association in UK, a project whose aim was to offer inspiration and hope to others suffering from the same disease.

Throughout 2005 Amy continued to raise funds for Rambam and opened the Empathy Fund, which improves the quality of life for patients and their family while in treatment. It was at this time that Amy received encouragement from her family to turn her personal notes on her recovery from cancer into a published memoir.

When Amy was honored with the Rebuilding Lives Award, sponsored by Roche in Leipzig, Germany in November of 2006 for offering inspiration to others battling Lymphoma, she received the financial backing to fulfill her dream. Breathing Deep was finally published in 2009.
Amy resides on Kibbutz Dalia to this day, with her husband and three children, and continues to write.
